Maps

Maps are a lot of fun and a necessity when you are traveling.  I like to use Google Maps to plot different locations so that when I am planning a trip I can refer back to my map and find all the different ideas I have read or learned about.  You would not want to miss anything amazing along your journey.

Lonely Planet - Ultimate United States Travel List

I found this book while vacationing in Colorado in the fall of 2021.  The highlights 500 experiences in the United States that they say are noteworthy.  Most of the experiences provide you a short paragraph about the experience and an a fantastic photo.  I wanted to plot these on a map so that when I am traveling to an area, I am sure not to miss something on the list.

Key:
Teal Icons - Places I have not been (numbers 1 - 400)
Gold Icons - Places I have visited (numbers 1 - 400)
Dark Blue Icons - Place I have not been (numbers 401 - 500)

Travel Planning Maps

I have created a travel planning map for many of the states and will continue to develop and add to them.  When I read a travel article, a book, watch a YouTube video or anything else that inspires me to want to travel I add a pin on my travel planning map for that state.  The pins are organized into categories like places to eat, to get drinks, to explore and more.  I have yet to come up with a standard set of icons, but usually they are self explanatory.  The dark yellow color is always reserved for places that I have visited.

I hope that these maps may provide you some ideas about where to go.  Get off your normal path.  Stop somewhere new and gain a new experience for your memories.

Yelp Collections

I have been an elite Yelper for years and use Yelp to help me find great restaurants everywhere we go.  I have used the collections feature to build lists of places I want to eat for a wide variety of places.  I love it that when I go to conferences or meetings my friends and volunteers will come and ask where they should go for great eats.
