Best Place to Drop Quarters in a Machine in Las Vegas

The best place to drop quarters into a machine in Las Vegas is not in a casino.  If you want to have a great time on just a few dollars, the best place to go is the Pinball Hall of Fame.  That is right, there is a Pinball Hall of Fame and all the machines are a hands-on interactive exhibit.  The best thing about pinball machines over slot machines is that there is actually some skill involved in playing pinball and your skill determines your ability to win free games, not just luck.

Located just east of the strip on Tropicana (driving or uber is suggested) this 10,000 square foot facility is currently filled with 260 pinball machines that you can touch and play.  The machines date from the 1950s to the 1990s and yes I was able to find a number of my favorites.  When you pull up outside the building and vinyl sign makes you wonder if you made the right decision for an activity compared to all the glitz of Vegas.  Once you walk inside there are rows and rows of machines for you to explore.  The classic change machine calls you to put in a bill and hear the actual quarters fall with a clank into the collection cup below.  Armed with your fresh pocket of quarters you are ready to start channeling your inner pinball wizard and forget about the world outside.

The flashing lights of the machines grab your attention.  The quest to hear that loud "pop" of earning a free game by getting a high score immediately grabbed me, and sure enough, I heard it near the end of my first games.  The games are all reasonably priced and you have the option to get discounts if you purchase more credits up front.  All the machines I played were a dollar or less with many of them giving you 3 games for $2.00.  I was able to play pinball with a friend for over 90 minutes and only spent $8.00.  The uber cost me more to get there than that and I dare you to try and play that long on a slot machine in Vegas.

In addition to the 260 machines that they have on the floor, there are another 800 machines that are in storage so the machines are rotated making it possible for every visit to allow you to play some new games.  Be sure to try some machines that you have never played before to explore the whole collection.

The Pinball Hall of Fame is a 501C3 non-profit organization established by the Pinball Collectors Club of Las Vegas.  The individuals working are all volunteering and are not getting paid for their services.  The proceeds from the pinball machines are used by the non-profit to fund local charities that they feel are making a difference in the Las Vegas area.  So not are you having a great time playing games, but you are making services available in the community.
