Rodeo Goat Burger

Rodeo Goat was on my bucket list for longer than it should have been.  It was all about the location before, but with five locations around the DFW area, you no longer have to drive that far to get an amazing burger at Rodeo Goat.

Rodeo Goat starts out with the freshest ground beef possible which they say is ground in-store the same day that you eat it.  Fresh quality meats are important in the burger, and their burger tastes like it.  Their menu is full of different burger options, 18 in total on the regular menu.  In addition to the regular options, there is always the "Battle of the Burgers" on the top of the menu which puts two specialty burgers up against each other in a battle for greatness where the decision is made based on what you vote for by ordering.

We visited the Cypress Waters location on a Saturday afternoon after the normal lunch crowd.  Cypress Waters is located in the middle of the DFW metroplex and is close to the DFW airport if you are flying into town.  This newly developed area has a lake and Rodeo Goat is truly lakeside, with most of the restaurant built of piers out into the water so that the deck provides great water views.

For our first time here I ordered the Sugar Burger.  This gourmet burger has candied bacon, grilled peaches, caramelized onions, arugula, and jalapeno jam to make your taste buds do a happy dance.  The burger looked amazing and tasted fabulous.  Now notice that there is no cheese on this burger, that is how good the flavors are, it does not even need cheese to make it stand out.  The peaches were canned peaches that had been grilled which makes sense because this burger is served year-round, but they do make it challenging to keep your burger together.  The savory burger is contrasted by the sweet toppings to make this a memorable burger.

We also ordered the Ryan Howard burger which consisted of candied bacon, caramelized onions, gouda, swiss, mango pico, cream cheese spread, and Trailboss habanero sauce.  Tammy ordered the sauce on the side and ended up not putting any on her burger because it was pretty warm.  I ended up using it for my fries, and it did pack a little heat.  The burger tasted great, but with three kinds of cheese like that how could it go wrong.

Rodeo Goat also offers an extensive full bar with craft beer cocktails and wine.  I had one of the local Texas craft beers, the 3 Nations Mango IPA and Tammy ordered the Floats MaGoats which is supposed to be like a French 75.  Tammy struggled to see the similarity and had to ask for some extra simple syrup to make it tasty.

On the side know that the portions are quite big.  We definitely could have split a side of fries and had plenty of food.  I definitely preferred the sweet potato fries over the regular fries but they were both pretty tasty.

Our waiter was friendly and helpful throughout our entire visit.  We had a very good meal and I look forward to coming back to Rodeo Goat in the future to try more of their delicious burgers.
